Dr. McGuire earned the degrees of B.Sc.(Mathematics) from LeTourneau College; M.S. (Mathematics) from Colorado State University, and Ph.D. (Computer Science) from Texas A&M University. Prior coming to Sam Houston State, he was an Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems at West Texas A&M, Director of Academic Computing at Pillsbury College, and Senior Computer Scientist at Stata Corporation. He was named NASA Faculty Fellow in 1997, 1998, and 2003. He most frequently teaches courses in Computer Organization, Operating Systems, Data Structures, Parallel Computing, and Introductory Programming. Dr. McGuire is editor-in-chief of the ACET Journal of Computer Education and Research.
