Computer Science Department Awarded Grant Funding For Scholarships

The Department of Computer Science at Sam Houston State University was awarded $2.8 million by the National Science Foundation CyberCorps Scholarship for Service in Interdisciplinary Cyber Security and Cyber Forensics.

Ph.D. in Digital and Cyber Forensic Science

The Doctor of Philosophy in Digital and Cyber Forensic Science program is intended for students with a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in computing science, computer engineering, or digital forensics. This fully funded program is designed to produce graduates with the technical and leadership skills needed for leadership positions in business and industry, federal and state security agencies, and academia. Students seeking their Ph.D. in digital and cyber forensic science must complete 85 credit hours beyond the bachelor’s degree. Previously completed master’s level coursework is evaluated on an individual basis. Fall application deadline: August 1 2023. Learn more about the program here.

We are thrilled that our Board of Regents has approved the SHSU College of Science & Engineering Technology, in partnership with the College of Business Administration, to offer two of just a few data science degrees in Texas!

Dr. Van Vung Pham with two undergraduate students won 2nd place as a data contributor and 3rd place as the model contributor (the 1st among academic participants) and is the only team that won two tasks in the Crowdsensing-based Road Damage Detection Challenge (CRDDC2022) - A track in IEEE BigData 2022 Cup.

The ideal applicant will have a MS degree in a field strongly related to cybersecurity or Information Technology and experience in teaching.
